Final Trailer

I have added in the credits at the end of the trailer after the ‘in cinemas’ title, and I have included two of the main characters’ names. I have all my final footage and I have ‘zoomed’ in on a few of the shots of Chris and Laura, and a shot of Lauren and Chloe because there was too much going on in the background and it looks like you’re expecting to see someone walk in or something funny happen behind them. Although it makes the shot look a little bit more blurry than the rest, it looks a lot more tidy and neat. I have all the traditional romcom conventions in my trailer and I decided not to add a voice over because I attempted but it didn’t sound good because it was too monotone and my soundtrack is upbeat and lively, and it sounded to drain-like.

Film Poster

I added a film rating at the bottom and a 2oth Century Fox logo to make it look authentic. I also added in a rating of The Sun with four stars. I think this was the most I could do make it look more of a film poster because it looked a little like a dvd case. I’m content with the outcome of this although I could be happier. I think it represents the genre quite well but it looks like it’s more for adults than teenagers which I’m not too keen on. It reminds me of ‘The Holiday’ when I look at it due to the colour scheme and the way they’re split up into sections. I wish I could have made Chris a lot bigger because you almost have to look for him at a first glance. He seems to far away and because the girls are a lot bigger sized he doesn’t seem in control or doesn’t have any authority, when his character is the main character and he has the most authority in the storyline. I like how the girls look like they’re looking at each other and then Chris is in the middle- this makes it clear that they’re sort of fighting over him but doesn’t reveal anything major. Chris’ facial expression and body language shows he’s a ‘ladies man’ and a player which was the effect I was going for. I matched the background colour with the lighting in the photos because otherwise it wouldn’t have really gone well and I like the light because it makes it look like a light hearted, romantic comedy film.

Film Magazine Cover

I added another film advert and another interview type subtitle in the corner where I thought it looked a bit too empty. I’m happy with my magazine cover now and I like the variety of fonts, colours and range of advertisments on there. I like the chosen picture because it’s Chris dressed as his character, behaving like his character and I bought his head forward above the title because i didn’t want the word ‘film’ written over his face.

Film Trailer- Final Stages

I have another 3/4 minute long silence at the end of this- which I need  to get rid of…

Film Magazine Cover

Here is the first draft of my music magazine cover. I used the photo of Chris as he’s my main character and then I took a look at the Empire covers for influence. I used a barcode image off google to make it look authentic and I got up the list of upcoming films in 2011 so it’s quite realistic. I kept it English, with the english currency sign at the top. I also included the date, website and a slogan like Empire’s- ‘the world’s biggest movie magazine’. I used ‘England’s biggest movie magazine’. I did the majority of my fonts in capital letters because it stands out more and i’m more likely to read it personally. I used a variety of fonts and texts, and the bigger fonts I used a bevel and emboss effect so they stand out more. I used a variety of colours because using all the same colours doesn’t look right anyway, but the background wouldn’t allow me to use all white as it’s quite dark and you can’t see the full sentence.

Trailer Progress 9/3/11

I apologise for the long black silence at the end, I must have saved it without cropping the end off!

More Trailer Progress

I have added some more footage to my trailer, not finished yet as I have some things to re-shoot because they’re wobbley or the background is too busy and it looks as if something is going to happen or someone important is going to come through the door.

Poster Update

I have recently changed the idea of my poster into this because I feel that the previous poster wasn’t appropriate for the genre choice. There’s still something I don’t really like about this poster but I followed influences of the posters for films like ‘The Switch’, ‘The Ugly Truth’ and ‘Sleepless In Seattle’ with the split photographs. My story line is there are quite a few girls after the main character and he doesn’t know which to pick so he takes them all out leaving the girls fighting, then getting revenge. But with the poster I didn’t want to reveal the entire story so I used two photos, one of Chris as the main character, loving it, and the other of two of the girls he takes out, split with Chris in the middle.  The photo of the girls is them pulling nasty faces at each other so it immediately becomes clear that they’re fighting over him as he’s in the middle of both girls.  I like this idea however I don’t like the two empty spaces right below them. I tried filling them with text but I don’t think it works so I will rearrange the text and spaces and maybe put the photo of Laura below so the space is up top.  I like the idea of the lines separating the photos, I think it shows the story but doesn’t reveal it.  In this poster I wrote out the credits in the bottom right corner. I think it’s a good thing to have in a film poster however I don’t like the font it’s in and I don’t like how it’s placed or where it is. I think it looks very out of place and wrong to be in that corner. I also put in a false website for the film I made up and I put ‘© 2011 Voyage Films’ to make it look realistic. For people’s names in the credits I used people in my class but I think I may need to make some names up as it doesn’t seem real enough because I know the people in there.
