This is the final page of research that I did. It is the Classic Fm magazine and I looked for all the things that I looked for previously in my other research. This was my favourite one to do because I think the overall cover was the best and I loved how it was laid out. I think more people would buy this magazine because the cover is a lot more eyecatching and classy. I like how it’s still a bit casual but it’s got something to it that makes you realise that it is actually a classical magazine. I love how they’ve used a well known television presenter to market this magazine.

This is the second page that I did of competition research. I looked at Gramophone Magazine and wrote what I liked about the cover layout and design. I wrote about the history of the magazine and I wrote about the criticism.

I did some research on the competition of classical magazines that are already out in the world. The three main competitors are BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone Magazine and Classic Fm Magazine. I used wikipedia, magforum.com and google to find out as much information as I could, such as how much it sells, the history of the magazine, criticism and I wrote what I liked about it. This is the BBC Music page where I used Microsoft Publisher to record my research.

I used a few different fonts and eventually found the one I wanted to use, so I stopped experimenting and settled with the one I chose.

These are some covers from the Rolling Stone Magazine, that I took from Google and used to analyse. The analysis involves texts, images, fonts and colours. Also, I noted what the image could mean and why they’ve used that particular image. I chose quite different covers, different types of music and bands, and even President Obama. Although he’s nothing to do with music, the magazine all together is a music magazine and I thought it was a different twist to use in my work.
